Datura plants fascinate me. I like the solid white type as well, but the purple/red and white kind always make me think of a fairytale. Dangerous but beautiful. Yes, they are poisonous, but there is something about their appearance alone that makes me think they are both good and evil. If Maleficent had a favorite flower I think it would be this one.
My art career began in 1964 with drawings of Godzilla in battle with squadrons of fighter jets. Fellow first graders were my early collectors for these scenes of chaos; all free for the asking. Thanks Kathy. I think it's one of those Victorian era plants like Tiger Eye Maple that has gone out of fashion and isn't seen that much anymore. Close cousin to Angel's Trumpet which has made kind of a comeback lately.
